In Foal to Arctic 2017
Generally a Lady, 2006 Thoroughbred mare by Patton, a stakes winning son of Lord at War and out of a Seattle Slew mare. Lady's dam Whiskersinthelight by Glaros, was a multiple race winner who was out of a multiple stakes placed winning daughter of Mr. Leader. Lady has a half brother who won multiple races at the track and who is now a successful hunter, and her dam is half to 4 multiple race winners including a stakes placed winner of over $250,000. Lady's family loves to jump and includes several successful steeple chasers and eventers. Lady was in training as an event prospect, but joined the broodmare band at Shining Mountain Thoroughbreds due to an injury which limited her career as a riding horse. She was kicked in the head by a warmblood mare in November of 2010 and was found unconscious on the ground with a fractured skull and choking on her tongue. She was completely blind for a week with extreme neurologic dysfunction which lasted for several months, but she is now nearly completely normal with the exception of startling at sudden noises and a small bit of lingering vision issues. Generally a Lady delivered her second foal, a beautiful chestnut and white filly by Arctic on 5/17/2014.
MARES FOR SALE - BREEDING STOCK DISPERSAL
Polish Prospect 2001 - Rosey joined the Shining Mountain broodmare band in 2012. This gorgeous rubicano mare is by the stakes placed, track record setting Danzig stallion Polish Numbers, who is out of 2 year old champion filly Numbered Account. Rosey's dam is by Allen's Prospect, and her 2nd dam, by Irish Ruler, was the dam of 9 winners from 10 to race including Love That Mac, who earned over $800,000. Rosey is herself the dam of 3 foals of racing age, three runner, and three winners with two being multiple winners and the third recently breaking her maiden first time out. Rosey stands a very correct and balanced 17.1 1/2 hands. She has very warmblood type movement with naturally uphill, floating gaits. Her gentle disposition and eye catching good looks combined with her fabulous pedigree and movement make her a valued addition to our band of mares! She has been bred to Arctic for a 2015 foal.
Most of the mares at Shining Mountain Thoroughbreds are home breds, but occasionally we acquire a special mare for her movement, disposition and pedigree and that attitude that says "pick me".
Tilly Manily 2005 Thoroughbred mare by Unbridled Desire out of Waltzing Manila by Manila. Tilly is one of our home breds that went to the track to follow in her illustrious family's hoof prints, but, unfortunately, a chip in her knee cut her career short. Her beautiful conformation, fabulous disposition, outstanding pedigree, and determined, winning attitude make her a fantastic race or sport horse broodmare. Pictured above with her 2014 filly Diedra.
In Foal to Painting Freedom for 2017
S. M. Cherokee - When we lost S. M. Fran in the summer of 2010, we decided to add her daughter S. M. Cherokee to our broodmare band. Cherokee is a beautifully conformed, fantastically bred, gorgeously marked Thoroughbred mare. She is by Montbretia, a winning son of MEADOWLAKE who is out of a stakes placed full sister to champion and champion siring sire CHEROKEE RUN. Cherokee is out of a Dr. Carter mare and her 2nd dam is by In Reality. Cherokee's 3rd dam is by Graustark and her 4th dam is by Tom Fool. She has several half siblings who are winners at the track and is from a strong, black type family. She is a gorgeous mover and is very forward in all her gaits. Cherokee delivered her first foal, a beautiful filly, by PAINTING FREEDOM, our black and white dual registered Jockey Club and APHA stallion 3/24/2013.
Poke Poke aka Moki. Selling as part of my breeding stock dispersal sale. Registered Jockey Club mare. Poke Poke, homozygous black 2007 A.P. Indy granddaughter. First dam is a 2 year old winner and the dam of multiple winners. 2nd dam is a multiple winning producer of multiple winners including a stakes winner. 3rd dam multiple winner, multiple winning producer. Moki was unraced due to injury but is sound to ride; can be hot under saddle. She stands a very correct 16.1 hands. She is the dam of 3 foals to date, Dandy a black and white colored Thoroughbred colt who I still own, Doubleblackcaptain a black colt who was sold to a racing home in 2015 and recently passed away from a neck injury while playing in the pasture, and Zeke a 2016 black colt. Her 2014 colt is by a son of my black and white dual registered Thoroughbred stallion Painting Freedom and her 2015 and 2016 colts are both by Painting Freedom. Moki is back in foal to Freedom for 2017. The foal is guaranteed to be black, the only question is sex and how much white it will come out with. It will be able to be registered with both the Jockey Club and APHA and will be able to be shown and/or raced as both a Thoroughbred and a Paint. Moki is a super easy mare to breed and foal out and is an excellent mother. Would be a fantastic addition to almost any sport horse breeding program. Current on vaccinations, farrier and worming. $10,000
Due to a severe injury to her knee caused by her dam stepping on her when she was 3 days old, this gorgeous base black, dominant white dual registered Jockey Club and APHA filly will never get to show off her talent and athleticism to the world. She delivered a beautiful homozygous black colt, Secret Apache, aka Quinn by Decoy Dan, 4/21/2016. Airdrieanna is by Matricule, a winning son of horse of the year A.P. INDY out of the French stakes winning mare MAXIMOVA. Airdrieanna’s dam is the white mare Arcticanna who is by Airdrie Apache, the world’s leading sire of colored Thoroughbreds and is out of the Raise a Man mare Tropicana Anna. Airdrieanna is a half sister to Arctic Bright View, one of the stars of the new Lone Ranger movie, and her dam has produced several mostly white Thoroughbreds. We look forward to the day when Airdrieanna’s foals are able to showcase the talent she didn’t get to exhibit, but she will be allowed to grow and mature before those exciting days will arrive.
ANEIGHZING GRACE Born 5/14/2008
In Foal to Arctic for 2017
Pixie Dust 'Em. Selling as part of my breeding stock dispersal. Registered Jockey Club Mare. Pixie Dust 'Em, 2006 granddaughter of Unbridled out of a daughter of Known Fact. Pixie's dam had only 2 starts, but she showed a ton of heart when she went to her knees in her 2nd start coming out of the gate, got back to her feet, and went on to finish 2nd in a mile race. She had to be vanned off afterwards with what turned out to be a slab fracture of her knee. Pixie's 2nd dam was the multiple race winning, multiple race winning producer Vibrant Future by Vigors, her 3rd dam was the stakes placed mare Kenergy by King Emperor, dam of multiple winners and stakes placed runners and grand dam of nearly 1.9 million dollar earner Mobil, and the 4th dam is Future Decision by Dead Ahead, a stakes winning producer of numerous outstanding runners. Pixie started life already showing her great heart and determination as she was born 6 weeks early on a night that dropped to 22 below zero. She was born in a pen surrounded by hay bales in the aisle between the stalls in my vet's barn because all the stalls were full and there was no place else warm enough for her to foal. It was quite a struggle for the first 6 weeks, but Pixie pulled through and never looked back. She was never started under saddle due to getting her head caught in a gate as a yearling (she apparently never heard the saying about curiosity killing the cat and was one of those younsters that was always into something), but has produced 3 outstanding foals for me, a 2012 Friesian sport horse filly who is in training for dressage, an outstanding colt in 2014 who sadly broke his hind leg in a freak training accident whose owners absolutely adored his great mind and athletic ability, and a fabulous 2015 filly who is going to get her chance at the races with her new owner. Pixie only stands 15 hands, but don't let her height fool you; this mare is an absolute power house, and her foals all show promise of being quite a lot taller than she is. Pixie tends to throw more toward the height of the sire, so she would make an excellent pony hunter broodmare, or, if continued to be bred to taller stallions, the options are limitless. Pixie is in foal to Arctic, my base bay dominant white Thoroughbred stallion for 2017. This foal will be a full sibling to her 2014 colt and 2015 colored filly. The foal will be able to be dual registered with both the Jockey Club and APHA and will be able to be shown and/or raced as both a thoroughbred or Paint. She is an uncomplicated mare to breed and foal out and is a fantastic mother. She is current on all vaccinations, farrier and worming. Located in Hamilton MT. $3500
Aneighzing Grace - Selling as part of my breeding stock dispersal. Registered Jockey Club Mare. Grace is a 2008 mare by Montbretia, a winning son of Meadlowlake out of a stakes placed full sister to champion and champion siring sire Cherokee Run. Grace is out of the winning mare S. M. Fran by Dr. Carter who is the dam of 3 multiple winners and the grand dam of multiple winners. The 2nd dam, Truly by In Reality, was a multiple stakes winning, stakes placed producer of 4 winners from 4 foals to race including a $500,000+ multiple stakes winner. Grace's 3rd dam was the 2 year old stakes placed winner Dance Partner by Graustark, who went on to produce several stakes winning and stakes placed runners. Her 4th dam is DinnerPartner, a multiple stakes winning, stakes placed daughter of Tom Fool who was also an excellent producer. Grace's pedigree is full of top Thoroughbred bloodlines from both the race and sport worlds. She is the dam of 3 foals to date, one of which is in training as a hunter, one who will be started under saddle this year and shows promise of being an outstanding upper level eventing prospect, and a yearling of 2016. Grace is a 100% producer of colored Thoroughbred foals. She has been bred to both Painting Freedom and Arctic. She is in foal to Arctic for 2017. This foal will be a full sibling to her 2014 and 2015 foals. Grace is an outstanding mother, has had no issues either carrying or delivering any of her foals, and has gotten in foal first cover every time. Grace turns out on her right front, but has otherwise outstanding conformation, and all of her foals have been very correct. She was the 6th foal I had out of her dam, and she is the only one who turned out. Grace stands 16.1 hands and would make an excellent addition to any race or sport horse breeding programs. Montbretia mares are proving to be excellent producers of speed event horses. Current on vaccinations, farrier and worming. Located in Hamilton MT. $5000
