Shining Mountain Thoroughbreds offers a wide variety of services. Horse owners can be as involved and hands on as they like or can leave the entire care and management of their horses up to us in the knowledge that their horses will be taken care of in a professional, safe, and thorough manner. Attention to detail, with no detail being too small, is the mainstay of our operation. Rates can be customized to fit each owner's needs and level of involvement in the horse's maintainance and upkeep.

Boarding

Overnight: $15.00 per day
Monthly: $310.00

Board rates include a 12 by 12 stall bedded with shavings, daily stall cleaning, daily turn out, and owner's choice of top quality alfalfa or grass hay fed twice a day along with a basic sweet feed. Straw bedding, additional feedings, supplements, or a different type of grain are available at additional cost based on individual needs which I will be glad to work with owners to customize. At certain times of the year, larger stalls may be available atadditional cost. All horses boarded atShining Mountain Thoroughbreds also receive arena privilidges for the indoor arena at no additional cost for the horse(s) boarded with us.

Pasture Board

$150 per month from June through September
$225 per month from October through May

Occasionally a spot will become available for a horse to be pasture boarded. I keep the groups of horses in pastures small so as not to overgraze the fields. Horses are grouped according to age and temperment. Pastured horses are fed hay as necessary and salt and mineral blocks are available at all times. Rates during the winter months are higher as hay requirements are larger and stock tank heaters are placed in all water troughs to assure ice free drinking water.

Training

$17.00 per day or $500 for 30 days

This rate includes the board for the horse under the same terms as above as well as being ridden or handled (in the case of young horses in for ground work) 6 days a week. Horses will be given 1 day a week off, usually Fridays.

Riding

The indoor arena is open for public use at a rate of $10 for the first horse and $5 for each additional horse per day. A monthly rate of $200 for one horse and $100 each additional horse is also available. An unlimited number of horses can be ridden each month for $500. Monthly rates must be paid in full the first of each month. Groups and clinitions are welcome and rates are based on a per event basis.

Lay-Up and Rehabilitation

Lay-up and rehab rates will be determined on an individual basis and will be based on care needed, time and materials required, whether or not medications are provided by you or I, and various other factors which can vary widely from horse to horse.

Additional Exercise

Riding: $15.00 per ride

hand walking $15 per walk or $30 per day if multiple walks are required

If you would like your horse to have more exercise than just daily turn out or your horse is on stall confinement and needs hand walking but you can't come out to provide it your self, I can ride your horse for you as necessary and am more than willing to hand walk horses in need of gentle exercise.

Breeding

Thoroughbred mares: $1000
Non-Thoroughbred mares: $500

Shining Mountain Thoroughbreds stands one of the best bred Thoroughbred stallions in the north west to both Thoroughbred and non-Thoroughbred mares.

Mare Care

Dry: $12.00 per day
Wet: $14.00 per day

Foaling

Mares not being bred to Montbretia: $200
Mares being bred to Montbretia: $150

All breeds of mares are welcome to foal at Shining Mountain Thoroughbreds and will be given top quality care and supervision regardless of whether or not they are being bred back to Montbretia. The foaling charge is in addition to the normal board rate for horses boarded at Shining Mountain Thoroughbreds.

The owners of all horses boarded at Shining Mountain Thoroughbreds have unlimited access to our 100 by 150 indoor arena. There is also easy access to many mountain and wilderness trails as well as some fairly quiet roads that may also be explored. The indoor arena is also open to the general public for a small fee. Clinicians and groups are welcome.
